Hello!

80% of retailers who’ve launched a pop-up say it was a success. And 58% plan to do it again.

It’s a smart format to test a market, create a standout moment, and rally your community — without committing long-term.

In the last newsletter, Nicole, founder of raye the store (a travelling concept store that has helped over 750 brands in the UK), shared the fundamentals of a successful pop-up.

Today, we’re diving into 5 brands that turned their pop-ups into unforgettable experiences 👇

👓 Gentle Monster - The art of immersive retail

At Gentle Monster, the high-end Korean eyewear brand, every store — permanent or pop-up — is designed like an art installation.

For its collab with Jennie (BLACKPINK), they created “Jentle Home,” a giant dollhouse pop-up featuring miniature figurines sporting the collection’s sunglasses.

😍 The result? A highly shareable set design and a retail space that went beyond shopping — it became a full-on experience.

Their latest launch? A futuristic, Y2K-themed pop-up in collaboration with Bratz and a K-pop star.

âžĄïž Think: 2000s looks, metallic colours, rounded shapes — all nodding to an era Gen Z loves.

🌊 Ride the Y2K nostalgia wave!

43% of Gen Z say nostalgia influences their clothing purchases, and 26% rank the 2000s as their favourite fashion decade (aka the Bratz era 😉).

To bring this into your next pop-up:

  • 🔎 Identify your decade: Which era resonates most with your audience — 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s?
  • 😎 Find your codes: What objects, colours, and materials speak to your community?
  • ✹ Modernise the vibe: How can you reinvent those references to match your brand today?

      🎧 Pleasures x Daft Punk - The unexpected pop-up

During Paris Fashion Week in June, streetwear label Pleasures opened a hyper-limited pop-up from 27 to 29th June — just 48 hours, with limited access only.

What’s in store: an exclusive collection with Daft Punk, fashion pieces inspired by their albums, collectables
and an immersive setting mixing music, fashion, and art.

It’s a full-on “Daft Punk House” designed to bring the band’s world to life, offline.

      đŸ”„ Key takeaways:

      • Leverage big moments like Fashion Week to generate buzz
      • Use exclusivity, nostalgia, and set design to engage your audience

      💡 Craft a highly targeted collab pop-up

Partner with a cultural figure your community knows — artist, collective, label, or a complementary brand.

The secret? Co-create a relevant experience that speaks directly to your target.

      A great example â€ïžđŸ”„ Kalash x Project X Paris

A Parisian pop-up with an exclusive drop, DJ set, food corner, and custom tees.

      Why it worked:

      • Kalash embodies the French urban spirit Project X Paris promotes
      • Both speak to the same generation and cultural codes
      • The artist brings credibility; the brand brings streetwear know-how

Takeaway: Choose a partner who aligns with your brand and your audience. Authenticity matters more than fame.

        Kalash x Capsule PXP

        đŸŒ± Patagonia - The purpose-driven pop-up

With Patagonia, commitment isn’t just talk.

To go beyond statements or donations, the brand launched Action Works, a platform helping people take concrete actions near them — volunteering, petitions, events...

To bring it to life, Patagonia opened an activist café pop-up in London.

On-site: meetups with NGOs, climate-focused workshops, and open discussions.

The idea is simple and powerful: help people find their cause.

All profits went to local organisations.

Proof that a pop-up can also be a platform for change and community-building.

đŸ–ïž Jacquemus - The immersive store

”It’s also an experience, a concept. The idea is to break the frontiers in the world of luxury. We want you to come in feeling welcome and have a great experience no matter what you do inside. You can also just walk in and take a picture. This is Jacquemus.” — Simon Porte Jacquemus

This philosophy is reflected in all of his pop-ups — especially the latest one.

In Ibiza, Jacquemus turned Cala Jondal beach into a life-size extension of its La CroisiĂšre collection.

Polka dot umbrellas, striped loungers, pétanque court, banana yellow furniture
every detail matched the brand’s summer vibe.

The collection? Available only during the pop-up.

                  Jacquemus pop up

đŸ”„ For Jacquemus, pop-ups are immersive spaces — not just shops, but places to connect emotionally. Open, inclusive, and made to be felt.

                    ✹ Djerf Avenue - Event-driven pop-ups

From Los Angeles to New York, influencer Matilda Djerf’s lifestyle brand used pop-ups to meet their community IRL.

In LA, their first temporary store had fans queuing from the moment it opened.

In NYC, the team levelled up: an exclusive product launch, “I ❀ DA” tees, a fashion show at the Guggenheim, and a full-on beauty salon reveal.

Result: up to 1,000 visitors per day.

At Djerf Avenue, a pop-up becomes a major brand moment — designed to be lived and shared.

Perfect for testing a new market or deepening brand love.
