Lot numbers are used to trace products from the same production. A number is assigned to a particular production and not a type of product. They allow, for example, to recall products in case of undesirable effects.Batch numbers are used to trace products from the same production. A number is assigned to a particular production and not a product type. This means that the same number can be assigned to several hundred or even thousands of products. The important thing is that these products have several things in common: date of manufacture, manufacturing process, ingredients, place of manufacture, suppliers, producer, etc.

This number makes it possible to quickly find all the characteristics of a product. If a consumer detects an adverse effect and the cause can be traced back to the product in question, the company selling the product can quickly find out where the problem originated so that the problem does not occur again. In addition, the company can quickly and efficiently recall all products linked to that batch number.

For example, it allows the traceability of cosmetic products, if there is a problem with a product related to the manufacturing or undetectable effects, it is enough to recall the batch number and not the whole production.
